⏰!Scam Alert: Fake Telegram 'recruiter' abuses CrossInt name! ⏰ .
We were recently informed by several people that they had been approached on Telegram by a certain “Sofia”, claiming to be a recruiter for CrossInt. But, fortunately, many of them immediately doubted the authenticity of her identity through several signals.
Here are the red flags identified:
1. This person does not appear on our website;
2. Nor on our LinkedIn page.
3. She claims not to have a phone number.
4. She communicates only via Telegram, a channel often used for less-than-transparent purposes.
5. Her profile displays a “typical” photo of an attractive woman.
6. The victims don't know how “Sofia” obtained their phone number or found their Telegram account.
7. “Sofia” doesn't speak Dutch; the use of a translation tool is obvious.
8. She then redirects the victims to a certain “Jeremy”, who also has no phone number, doesn't speak Dutch, and then tries to recruit the victims for scams related to online reviews.
One of the reports came from a person active in the field of cybersecurity, who, out of curiosity, voluntarily interacted briefly with “Sofia” and was kind enough to send us a screenshot as an attachment. Thanks to this information, we were able to identify the actions of this fake recruiter.
We would like to thank those individuals who reported this to us at length! These notifications allowed us to quickly respond to the situation and alert others as well. Let it be clear that Cross International does NOT communicate via Telegram (nor Tik Tok, Instagram, etc.), and that our customer and company data is secure. However, we do advise everyone to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious messages. Our sincere apologies also for any inconvenience beyond our control.
In addition, we will explore possible legal action to further investigate this fraudulent misuse of our name. We have already filed a scam report with the FPS Economy and had an official police report made.
Finally, we are also open to advice on what other steps we can take to effectively stop this type of abuse. Does anyone have any tips or experiences that can help us prevent further damage and future occurrences?
With this post, we also hope to make others aware of such situations so that we can all be better prepared, avoid similar problems, and create a safer digital environment for all.
